Rolfe and mate finally return with the missing camels but too late to make a start today. Meanwhile nearly 300 miles southwest at the Endeavour camp... The bloody camels have taken to distant walkabouts near every night, Terry puts it down to light work and plenty of feed, but they are in fine fettle. The truck arrives at the highest point of the Cavenagh Range in a little over 45 minutes, excellent run. A lone but armed Aboriginal makes himself known, a true myall Terry decides, but allowing for the language difficulties he does indicate the possible location of water Bird guards the truck while Terry does a compass and binocular survey of the land to fix bearings and location, surprises three more Aboriginals quietly observing the camel party. All men an early lunch at 10.40 and a circuit of the range commences and return to camp 55 two days hence, and eventual return to Oodnadatta.
