The men stranded on Dashwood Creek again try their hand at stoning the cockatoos infesting the trees and Hamre is disturbed at how quickly their energy is waning. Later in the morning Pittendrigh tries his hand at frying tadpoles, while better than nothing the men realise they will not sustain life for long, the meal is supplemented by three milk tablets between them. They spend the afternoon playing paper cricket and feeding the lizards. the night is very cold.

Taylor finishes the first draft of his book and puts it aside, the flies and isolation are starting to affect him, his constitution is poor due to the lack of fresh food and months of hard living. he moves his bed under cover expecting rain during the evening.

Flight Lieutenant Charles Eaton, Australia's best inland pilot receives his orders at midday, he and Flying Officer Gerrand are to proceed to Central Australia soonest and search for Pittendrigh and Hamre. Eaton's thoughts are unprintable, he sets to immediately.

The Endeavour team away early, as usual, good progress and lunch at Mount Ferdinand, two drums of petrol retrieved. the men are amazed at the change in country, a dust bowl on the way west now lush green pastures making the old track difficult to find. Arrive at Ernabella at 2.30, the stream running strongly. Camp 64 nine short of Moorilyana. Rain that night.
