Apart from the shareholders, a number of private business's and Government agencies sponsored the first C.A.G.E. expedition. Compliments of the Acting Premier of New South Wales, the state granted free transport for all men and materials as far as Broken Hill and the Commonwealth Government made a similar arrangement from Quorn to Alice Springs.

The Atlantic Union Oil Company supplied 600 gallons of vehicle and aircraft fuel and oil and according to Blakeley, McIllwraiths provided two tons of groceries at cost price, other equipment such as a boring plant, a full kit of blacksmiths tools as well as water condensing and oxy-welding plant were supplied at cost but from unnamed suppliers and a Mr. Bob Walder supplied camping equipment at 25% below cost. The most generous donation to the Company's cause came from the Thornycroft Company who supplied a six wheeled truck free of charge for six months.
