There are no riding camels, forcing Taylor and Johns to remain in camp, the hobbled packs forage further afield. Clouds of mosquitoes make life miserable and the searchers for the stray camels have not returned by evening. Terry and his mates also have their problems with camels, the lot have cleared out again and Mick does not return with them until 8.45. Bailey guards camp while Colson replenishes water, everything is filled. Terry and Bird motor north of west to the Blackstone Range, arriving there late morning. Bird prospects and Terry takes bearings from Hill 51. Samples dollied but only slight traces of iron in the pan. Terry frets that he will have to return to Adelaide without anything to show his backers, the country remains singularly unpromising. Camels arrive at 4.30 and camp set. Colson out water hunting and the ever hopeful and thorough Bird prospecting and rabbit hunting, no luck with the gold but three bunnies for the pot.
