The Aboriginals entertain Taylor and Johns to a small corroboree this morning, Taylor decides it is a half hearted effort and becomes increasing concerned over the missing Airmen but decides there is nothing he can do from Illbilla. Johns bags a kangaroo this afternoon a welcome addition to the pot and Taylor prepares the Xmas pudding from whatever is available in the store dump. Towards evening the Aboriginals move to the sandhills, a big storm is expected tonight. Pittendrigh and Hamre find the signal tree from last night still standing and discard the rest of the tinned food because of it's saltiness. They trek east and by late morning have drunk the last of the water. That afternoon the men crawl into the shade of a mulga expecting the inevitable. The desperate men are saved late that afternoon by a very local thunderstorm, the water soon pools and water bags are replenished with the muddy liquid. Although late in the day they push on, rejuvenated and arrive at the Dashwood at dusk. The usual early start for the Endeavour team now traveling on familiar ground with the occasional stop to geologise and correct the maps. Rock and waterholes drying out reminding all that this can be a treacherous country for permanent water. thunderstorms about, now almost a daily occurrence. All at camp 59 by 6ish. Heavy rain at dusk. According to his diary Lasseter photographs the datum peg in the waterhole today, keeps a bloody diary and doesn't spend a word giving the location of the waterhole.
