Taylor concludes the plane has run out of fuel and force landed somewhere between Illbilla and Alice Springs. He light a very large smoke signal mid morning and reckons it would be visible fifty miles away and prepares another large smoke signal in case the plane is heard. Firewood for camp and signals is becoming very scarce.

Pittendrigh and Hamre set off east very early, the temperature is above 35 degrees by mid morning, by now Hamre has discarded his leather leggings and Pittendrigh's shoes are disintegrating, water is perilously low. They search the base of the ranges for water but no luck. A large tree is fired as a signal but again no response and dinner as usual is a malted milk tablet each.

The Endeavour team on the road at 7.30, at midday the truck crew pick up two drums of buried petrol at Mount Davies. Terry and Bird enjoy a thunderstorm shower, meaning they strip off for a wash, a practice started by young Bailey  seemingly months ago, and wait for the camel team, and wait then search to find the camelmen have skirted the storm and passed them perfectly dry by 300 yards, a very local storm. All arrive at camp 58  O.K.
