Taylor fills in time at Illbilla tidying up the airstrip and watering the camels and carting water to the camp. Johns presses on, falling asleep in the saddle, a dangerous practice for a lone man on a weary camel , he finds water in Deering creek late afternoon and is exhausted, he rests up for a couple of hours before continuing his journey.

Pittendrigh and Hamre start the return journey to the Dashwood arriving there at about 3.00, while laying in the shelter they pass the time by adopting two lizards named Tom and Joe and feeding them flies, they have a shilling bet as to whose will be fattest first.

Disaster strikes Lasseter, in the sandhills a couple of miles north west of the Hull Gap, his camels bolt, leaving him stranded with scant supplies and in a hostile land. He buries a treacle tin with messages in the sand, gathers up what he can and heads for the gap, there should be water and maybe shelter. The Aboriginals watch every move. his chances don't look good.

At the Endeavour camp 61, truck and camels away before 8.00, good traveling to Days Gully  where two drums of buried petrol picked up. Terry decides to travel south of the Musgrave Ranges to avoid sandhills. Pitch camp 62 at 2.30 and sets about writing up a report of the journey for his backers in Adelaide and Carrington.
