Sunday, 28/12/30.

Johns arrives at Kutta Putta shortly after sunrise and has a meal and tea and waters the camel, he continues towards Hermannsburg at 8.00, delirious with exhaustion he arrives at Gilbert waterhole mid afternoon, he must rest and falls unconscious until  mid afternoon, early evening he sets off again.

Hamre and Pittendrigh are wakened early by a large flock of black cockatoos in the trees lining the creek, they collect stones pelting them at the birds hoping for a lucky hit but are soon exhausted. The rations for the day are one milk tablet each.

Another idle day for Taylor who passes the time mending shirts, cooking and carving mulga wood. that evening he is certain that he sees a flare to the south in the vicinity of the waterhole and thinks that it may be Lasseter knowing that he possesses  flares.

Lasseter though is many miles to the south, holed up in a cave on the Hull River and pondering his next move, he has very limited choices.

Last day together for the Endeavour team, it is now quite evident that the better roads will mean the truck outpaces the camels by many miles per day. Terry decides to forge ahead on the morrow and pays Colson off, he of course is on very familiar ground and with Mick for company intends to make a leisurely return to Oodnadatta. Stores repacked and the much battered hood of the vehicle repaired. Spends the afternoon with the voluminous reports
