Pittendrigh finds handfuls of green weed growing by the waterhole and boils some but it is tasteless and not sustaining. They settle for a milk tablet each and endure another cold night. Johns, exhausted arrives late at Hermannsburg and raises the alarm. Taylor decides he is mistaken about last nights flare and continues to mark time. Terry, Bird and Bailey on the truck part ways with Colson and Mick. The road is overgrown with dense herbage and Terry decides to drive point to point except where thick mulga dictates the way. Although not easy driving they make 52 miles for the day to camp 63.
