Coote again temporarily grounded in Alice Springs and keeping a suitably low profile writes to Arthur Blakeley with regrets and excuses, the whole sorry business was entirely the ground party's fault through their late arrival at the Rock due to wet weather and receiving bad directions from Tempe Downs Station.

Taylor and Rolfe arrive at Bob Bucks station, none the worse for wear from the hurried journey after the fire at Ayers Rock. Buck of course sees a great tall story developing, can't have a 'new come up Pommie' successfully surviving the rigours of the dreaded Australian Outback.

A record early start for Terry and mates, vehicle and camels off camp before 7.30, camels continue along the southern Musgraves while Bailey and Terry forge up the Currie to replenish water and wash out the radiator after yesterdays clay pan soup. Still a dense haze and heavy going, the vehicle uses eight gallons of water but excellent progress, camels and vehicle camp a couple of miles past Opparinna. Lou Bailey now quite unwell from the ant poison, his leg severely swollen.
