Lou Bailey's first day out prospecting on this trip, he and Bird inspect a run of possible country four miles to the south, Colson is chef for the day and Terry carries out much needed repairs on the vehicle. The afternoons plans to continue prospecting along the outcrop are interrupted by the daily thunderstorms. and their Aboriginal minders depart to hunt, much to Terry's relief, while friendly relations are encouraged, familiarity is not. Terry notes that Mick seems to be on quite intimate terms with the locals. Bailey and Bird put in a big day, walking nearly ten miles thoroughly examining the country to Gosse's Pile, arrive at camp 5.30 completely soaked.
