Weather conditions improve by  midday  and Coote leaves for Hermannsburg informing Carrington that he will not be back for a month and to send out a search party if nothing is heard by that time. Coote flies into foul weather shortly after crossing the James Range and the plane is tossed about like a cork. After a stormy flight of more than an hour Coote lands at Hermannsburg guided to the landing strip by timely smoke signals.

The pilot spends the night with the Heinrichs and receives fresh eggs, cabbages, carrots, and a bottle of  Penfolds medicated wine from Mrs Heinrich. The fool of a pilot tells the Heinrichs that he will see them over the weekend  8th and 9th of November.

Endeavour Company meeting goes well and Reed wires Terry to take on Lou Bailey at four pounds per week and eight Company shares if they strike anything worth pegging. Orders stores from Wallis Fogarty and Co. and starts packing for the Musgrave trip.
