The petrol party makes another 25 miles for the day through sandhills and camp east of Mount Peculiar. Taylor is starting to feel a little better and supposes the lack of fresh vegetables and five months hard living had lead to his present ill health. The Endeavour team returns to the truck camp of the 3rd and 4th and do a complete stock take of all supplies. Enough of everything for six weeks except soap, plentiful water probably meaning plentiful usage. Terry and Bailey climb Mount Aloysius for bearings and Bird prospects the foothills, Colson and Mick guard camp. Bailey with the eye of a trencherman discovers many fig trees in full fruit and tucks out, Terry reckons the best native fruit tried so far on the journey. Pleasant surprise on return to camp, Bird has shot an emu, very welcome fresh meat and plenty of it.
