Terry and mates anxious to get on to the Tomkinsons make a record early start, 10 to 7 yet, continue around the Mann Range 'til lunch then make straight for the objective. Terry and Bird note the remarkable absence of quartz in the Mann Ranges, not a good portent for future prospects. The camel team discovers good water and all drums filled which will be needed, the heavy going makes progress at a little over a mile per hour, axing their way through dense mulga thickets makes an exhausting mornings work.
