Taylor sets about purchasing supplies and hiring camels, shame Paddy Tucker and his team are away on the Rock mission. He expects to leave tomorrow. Ted Colson and Mick away on camels at 8.00 to collect water while Bird and Bailey load the rest of the camels and Terry the vehicle, work frequently interrupted to hunt away the overly familiar Aboriginals. The men are starting to become uneasy over the situation. Terry leaves first and the truck is followed closely by forty well armed men, they run out of puff after a mile much to Terry's relief and he anxiously waits the camel team who turn up presently, surrounded by a horde of Aboriginals. A Tense moment, perhaps defused by Mick arriving and announcing that Colson has found water and is waiting ahead. Midday very hot and close, they proceed west along the southern slopes of Mount Hinckley, by 4.30 the truck is well ahead making very good time over a dry swamp then through small granite hills and boulders. Terry, mind on many other things, drives over one of the boulders and smashes the front right spring of the truck, repairs completed by 5.30 just as the camels arrive, camp set up half a mile on on a plain of brilliant green feed. the expedition is now over the Western Australian border.
